Tips for working on finals

Dear Alexis,
My name is Cassia. These past two weeks have been finals week and I’m stressing out. I don’t seem to have enough time to do anything! I can’t hang out with my friends because every single one of my classes assigns work every night. Do you have any tips for working with finals? I really need it.
-Cassia.

Dear Cassia,
The week(s) of finals are always the most stressful. Instead of worrying about having time to hang out with your friends, you should be thinking about studying for your finals. The best advice I can give you is to just study; don’t put it off until the last minute. Studying isn’t fun and going to the mall with your friends seems like the better choice but studying and getting good grades on your finals will help you in your future-when you are thrown into the “real world.” Although you shouldn’t spend tons of time with your friends just to keep putting off your work, it is OK to take breaks and go see your friends and have a little fun. It’s easier on your brain if you take mini breaks between each subject. Spend certain time frames on certain subjects and do a little of each subject every night. If you don’t understand a subject don’t be afraid to ask your teachers the questions you have. Teachers are there to teach and help you especially during finals week. Also, get plenty of rest and don’t stay up super late trying to fit in more studying before you go to sleep; your brain will remember things better when you’ve had plenty of rest. Don’t stress over your tests, and don’t go to drastic measures in order to complete your studying time and/or your finals themselves. The better you plan your studying routine, the better you’ll feel as your finals get closer. Good luck!
