I don't want to go to prom with him.



Dear Alexis,
                I said yes when I was asked to prom by a guy I really don't want to go with, but I'm scared if I tell him it'll make things awkward and ruin our friendship. I know we could go as friends but I'd rather not. He's just not the type of person who I could see myself having a good time with at something like prom. Please help.

Dear Torn,
                Turning him down now could possibly ruin your friendship for a short period of time. The way I see it, you've already committed yourself to going to prom with him. There has to be a reason why you said yes in the first place. Stop being negative about the situation and make prom fun with him. The date will go sour if your attitude is sour. My advice to you is to go to prom with him, have fun, and forget about the 'What ifs.' Something made you say yes and this could be an opportunity for you two to become closer. Just enjoy yourself; it's prom!!

Dear Alexis,             This girl likes my boyfriend, she's made that obvious. She knows he has a girlfriend and continues to flirt with him. He said they're just friends but it's evident she wants more out of it. He's a really nice guy and can't be mean to her. Should I speak my mind to her? My first column!

October 7th, 2011 was the first issue of our school newspaper, and luckily for me, my column was in there! It means a lot to know that the editor liked my column and to see my words, my name, my picture in there. You're probably thinking I'm crazy to be this excited, but you would be excited too if it was your writing!
